Kaden Larson, an award-winning collegiate pianist, is returning to his hometown for a concert on Friday, April 16 at 7:30 p.m. The concert is sponsored by the Bluffdale Arts Council and will take place at South Hills Middle School, 13508 South 4000 West in Riverton.

Larson attended Riverton High School before continuing his education and piano performances at BYU. This year, he was the Alternate Winner for the collegiate division of the Music Teachers’ National Association piano competition for the state of Utah. Prior to serving a religious mission, Larson was the state winner for the collegiate division of the Utah Music Teachers' Association concerto competition and a winner in the junior division of the BYU student concerto competition.

Currently, Larson is in his second year of study in the BYU School of Music, seeking a bachelor’s of music degree, with emphasis in piano performance, and he said he plans to pursue graduate studies and eventually get a doctorate of musical arts and seek a teaching position at a university.

At the Riverton concert, he will play classical works from the Baroque era to neo-classical jazz, including selections by Manuel De Falla, J.S. Bach, Ludwig van Beethoven, Frederic Chopin, Karol Szymanowski, and Nikolai Kapustin.

“I've been working hard to prepare and can promise that you won't regret coming,” Larson said. “I've given numerous recitals in the community before and this one will be the best yet.”

Larson’s future concerts include one in Cedar City on April 23 and another at the Assembly Hall on Temple Square on August 27.
