Juan Diego tennis wraps competitive year

Juan Diego Catholic High School junior Lauren Foy and senior Isabel Hopkins reached the 3A girls tennis state semifinals, losing to Morgan’s Isabella Dickman/Carys Morgan 3-6, 6-4, 6-1 Oct. 8 at Liberty Park. The duo, playing at No. 2 doubles, had a first-round bye before defeating Delta’s Amy Moyano/Paige Hilner 6-0, 6-1 in the round of 16 and North Sanpete’s Shea Rawlinson/Madison Johnansen 6-4, 7-6 (8-6) in the quarterfinals. Also competing at state for the Soaring Eagle program, who placed eighth as a team, were quarterfinalists Maria Cadena, at No. 3 singles, and senior Hannah Bradshaw/sophomore Quincy Kegel, at No. 1 doubles. Junior Keira Ahearn lost in the round of 32 to South Sevier’s Brooke Carter 6-3, 6-1 at No. 2 singles.
