Kid to Kid

Two years ago, Tracy Evans left the corporate world to purchase the franchise store Kid to Kid located at 792 East 9400 South. Kid to Kid may be a second-hand store but now with the new ownership it feels more like a children's boutique. The staff is welcoming and the store is clean with quality clothes hanging on every rack.

Kid to Kid buys gently used children's clothing and items along with fashionable maternity wear. Recycling clothing items is more popular than ever. Customers can help out the environment and get paid cash by taking them to Kid to Kid. Tracy buys shoes and clothes that are freshly laundered, in good condition and preferably in the current style.

"We carry brands from Walmart to Saks Fifth Avenue," she says.

Tracy trains her staff to make the process of selling items fast and easy for her customers. It can take up to 30 minutes, depending on the amount of items and the number of customers bringing in items. Tracy encourages customers to plan some time and shop while their items are being processed. Customers receive cash on the spot or can choose to get in-store credit for 20 percent more than the cash price.

"It's a very studied and fair process because the computer program gives the estimate based on brand, condition, style and demand," Tracy says.

A store like this wasn't around when Tracy was raising her children. She says it makes sense because children grow so fast, especially when buying for a baby up to a 3-year-old toddler. It's also a great way to stretch your buck.

"Kid to Kid allows you to clothe your children at a fraction of the retail price."

Parents can also take advantage of the great discounts on other children's items such as toys, baby swings, bouncers, car seats, booster seats and cribs. Tracy ensures all the products are safe and stays current on consumer recalls. Federal guidelines say that used car seats should be no greater than six years old but Tracy only accepts them at four years or newer.

"We have higher standards and test everything for safety sake," she says.

Kid to Kid also buys formula to help parents who have a surplus. Tracy makes sure the formula is sealed and hasn't expired. The store also carries new products such as hair accessories, dress-up clothing, dance clothing and tights.

Store hours are 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Kid to Kid purchases items from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. For more information, call 801-572-2144 or visit kidtokid.com.
