Thanksgiving Crazy Course Fun Run

Oct 23, 2014 11:29AM ● By Kim Shemwell
Here’s a fun way to trot off some calories before turkey day this year—join fellow Draperites at the sixth annual Thanksgiving Crazy Course Fun Run, Saturday, Nov. 8, 10 a.m. at the Andy Ballard Equestrian Center, 1600 East Highland Drive (13675 South). Not your typical 5K, this fun run stretches 3.3 miles through neighborhoods, over grass, roads, sidewalks, paved and dirt trails. And to make it even more interesting, participants are encouraged to dress in Thanksgiving costumes for prizes. “We have great costumes every year,” Draper City Recreation Director Rhett Ogden said. “Matching pilgrims, turkeys, native Americans, pumpkins, cornucopias, you name it. Some get very creative and daring.” Targeted to all ages, the Thanksgiving fun run has become a Draper tradition for many, come rain or shine. “Two years ago, we had the worst snowstorm I have ever seen that early in November—definitely one to remember,” Ogden said. “It’s such a fun event that many runners have done it all five years.” Register online by Oct. 29 at www.draper.ut.us/recreation ($15 in advance/$20 day of race). Pre-registered runners receive a free crazy course run tech shirt and finisher award. Photo courtesy of Draper City Recreation
