The Corner Canyon High girls golf team placed second at the 6A state championships May 11 at The Ridge, coming in just one stroke behind Davis. “I couldn’t be more proud of my girls,” said head coach Lexi Gagon. “They fought until the very last shot, and I know they were happy with the way that they finished.”

The Chargers had a four stroke lead late into the second round before the Darts mounted a comeback and came out on top. Corner Canyon finished tied with Lone Peak for second place so Savannah Romney, Victoria Romney, Bella Boman and Ellie Whitehead competed in a playoff with the Knights, winning after three holes, to own the second spot outright. “It was pretty crazy, and it felt like we had just won the entire thing,” Gagon said. Savannah and Victoria Romney earned All-State honors with sixth and seventh place finishes, respectively, to lead the Chargers. Ellie Whitehead tied for 12th while Bella Boman—who was the low score for Corner Canyon after day one with an 81—took 14th and Alyssa Meadows tied for 15th. Laney Ross also competed in the two-day tournament. “The girls stepped up and they left everything out on the course,” Gagon said. “I’m so proud of all of them.” (Photos courtesy Lexi Gagon)
