Iconic alpine ski racer Michaela Shiffrin has won more World Cups than anyone. With her recent 87th win she broke the all time record of Swedish racer Ingemar Stenmark whose record stood for 34 years.

To celebrate Shiffrin's win, the NASTAR race course at Solitude Mountain Resort is now free for the rest of the season. This is an excellent opportunity to give racing a try even if you've never raced before. Participation is open to everyone.

In NASTAR, you race against others of your age and gender as well as against the clock. At each resort, there are certified Pacesetters whose performance has been measured against NASTAR'S National Pacesetter. When the Pacesetter makes a run, the system factors in all the variables and what it means to you when you make your run. You do not have to be a Michaela Shiffrin to earn a platinum, gold, silver or bronze medal.

Solitude's NASTAR course is open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. every Saturday and Sunday. The Giant Slalom course in on Solitude's Main Street run. You do have to register, and you can register in advance online or you can register in person.

NASTAR is the world's largest ski and snowboard racing program in the world. It started in 1968 and has had more than 5 million participants. Now you can give it a try yourself.

Michaela, 28, is called the “Greatest Alpine Ski Racer of All Time.” She's been a U.S. Ski & Snowboard Team member for 12 years and was on the 2022 U.S. Olympic Alpine Team when it competed in China last year.
