Family and friends of Bailey Quinn Mallard gathered at the Oct. 21 Draper City Council meeting where the council approved the re-naming of a street in their neighborhood. Now known as Bailey Quinn Lane, the street honors 12-year-old Bailey, the Draper Park Middle School (DPMS) student who passed away in June after suffering internal injuries during a training ride with the DPMS Mountain Biking Team. “It’s such a heartbreaking loss in so many ways,” said Melanie Kennedy, neighborhood spokesperson. The neighborhood previously renamed another street after 16-year-old Lexie Fenton who was killed in a car accident. “We are so grateful the city council has approved this street name change. We wish we didn’t have to have these situations, but also are so touched that the two entrance streets to our neighborhood will bear the names of our now guardian angels,” Kennedy said.
